East Shore Healthcare

Harrisburg’s Advanced Pain Management and Rehabilitation Center, since 1984!

As we age, aches and pains become part of our normal existence. Until recently, there was nothing that could be done to reverse the effects of aging on our body. Today, there is new hope, as scientists have been learning a great deal about a special kind of embryonic stem cell in the body. As a result, stem cells are being used by the body to repair damaged organs. When you strain a muscle, stem cells in the body become new muscle by restoring degenerated tissue while providing pain relief. As a result, stem-cell therapy can be used to treat arthritis, rotator cuff injury (shoulder pain), tendonitis, lower back pain, and overstressed ankles (common among basketball players). Damaged shoulders, hips or neck muscles can all be treated by stem cell treatment, which means you can avoid surgery and heal faster with less pain.

At East Shore Healthcare, we perform safe and effective stem cell intravenous infusion treatments. Our health coaching doctor sees patients from Palmyra, Reading, Harrisburg, Hershey, York, Elizabethtown, Annville, Chambersburg, Hummelstown and Lancaster, PA. You can call us at (717) 652-5550 or book an appointment online to learn more.

FAQs on Stem Cell Therapy:

Where is the Engraftment of Cells Taken From?

We obtain stem cells carefully from a donor (from the cord blood- in the umbilical cord). No one is harmed and the amniotic stem cells (embryo fluid) are extremely effective. Once the cells are sent to us we simply inject them into the affected area. The cells go to work rebuilding the cartilage that you’ve worn away, and before you know it you’re experiencing pain relief.

What is the Recovery Time?

Stem cell therapy is an alternative solution that offers long-term results with minimal invasiveness and practically no recovery time.

Can Stem-Cell Therapy Alleviate Knee Pain?

Your knees are highly prone to experiencing joint pain. Your knees, like all your joints, are cushioned by tissue called cartilage. This keeps the bones of your knee from grinding against each other and wearing out. If the cartilage is damaged or diseased, however, it can lead to bone-to-bone contact, which causes extreme pain. Until now, the only treatment for this kind of injury has been a total knee replacement. This is a painful procedure that takes months to recover from. (Now, a relatively painless procedure could replace an invasive and painful surgery entirely, if these techniques can be perfected.)

Using stem cells derived from bone marrow, new cartilage can be grown inside the knee simply by injecting the joint with the stem cells. Stem-cell therapy can help provide relief from some of these painful knee conditions:

  • Arthritis of the Knee
  • Sprain or Tear to the MCL
  • Sprain or Tear to the ACL
  • Sprain or Tear to the PCL
  • Sprain or Tear to the LCL
  • Instability of the Knee
  • Tendinopathy of the Hamstrings
  • Damage to the Cartilage

Can Stem-Cell Therapy Alleviate Shoulder Pain?

Shoulder pain can hurt a lot and hinder you in basic movements, making it difficult to concentrate on your daily routine. Since the shoulder is such an overused joint, just like the knees, you may feel the effects of arthritis in your 50s and 60s.

Just like other joints, an injection of stem cells can begin to make you feel better without pills or surgical procedures. Stem-cell therapy can help relieve these common shoulder conditions:

  • Arthritis of the Shoulder
  • Degeneration to the Labral
  • Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
  • Recurrent Shoulder Dislocations
  • Mild/Moderate Osteoarthritis
  • Tear to the Labral
  • Separation in the AC Joint

Can Stem-Cell Therapy Alleviate Hip Pain?

The hip is the largest joint that is prone to overuse and degeneration. For most people, the pain begins in the groin or on the side or back of the hip. It can extend down the front of the thigh and even into the knee. The pain can also feel like a stiffness or tightness.  You may be interested in treating hip pain with stem-cell therapy, instead of surgery, because the surgical procedure is so invasive. Stem-cell Therapy allows you to be back at work within a few days, with no physical therapy. Stem-cell therapy can help relieve these common hip conditions:

  • Osteonecrosis
  • Avascular Necrosis
  • Bursitis
  • Tendinopathy

Can Stem-Cell Therapy Alleviate Back Pain?

Sixty-five million Americans suffer from chronic lower back pain, and many feel they have tried it all when it comes to pain relief. The causes of lower back pain are varied, but the most common reasons are sprains and strains. If you have experienced a recent gain in weight, this can strain the spine and lead to back pain. The same is true for pregnancy and work that requires heavy lifting. Other factors that could be contributing to your back pain have to do with age and fitness levels. Since surgery would be extremely invasive, time-consuming and painful, more people are looking for alternatives such as stem-cell therapy. Stem-cell therapy can help relieve these common lower back pain conditions:

  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Lumbar disc herniation
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Arthritis
